IN ADDITION TO HER WORK AS THE ARTISTIC DIRECTOR OF THE SAN FRANCISCO OPERA CENTER, MS. MATHESON CONTINUES HER PERFORMING CAREER IN EUROPE. HER 2022/23 SEASON INCLUDES RECITALS IN RENOWNED EUROPEAN VENUES WITH SOME OF THE OPERA WORLD’S LEADING ARTISTS. SHE COMMENCES HER SEASON WITH A SERIES OF RECITALS WITH MEXICAN/FRENCH TENOR ROLANDO VILLAZÓN, PERFORMING IN VENUES ACROSS SWITZERLAND, GERMANY, AND AUSTRIA. MS. MATHESON THEN JOINS FRENCH TENOR BENJAMIN BERNHEIM FOR A RECITAL AT OPER FRANKFURT. THE PAIR WILL REUNITE LATER IN THE SEASON FOR A RECITAL AS PART OF THE MUNICH OPERA FESTIVAL AND THE VERBIER FESTIVAL. IN JANUARY 2023, SHE RETURNS TO OPERNHAUS ZÜRICH, WHERE SHE WAS A COACH AND CONDUCTOR, TO PERFORM IN A RECITAL WITH FRENCH MEZZO-SOPRANO, STÉPHANIE D'OUSTRAC.

This June, Carrie-Ann commences her European tour with Mexican tenor Rolando Villazón. The two musicians have shared the stage together during many memorable and enjoyable performances in venues such as Pittsburgh opera, Konzerthaus Dortmund, Prague Castle, the Bayerische Staatsoper, and many more.

Tad and Dianne Taube and General Director Matthew Shilvock are pleased to officially welcome Carrie-Ann Matheson as Artistic Director of the San Francisco Opera Center (SFOC) and the Merola Opera Center. although her tenure begins under unexpected circumstances due to the ongoing pandemic, Carrie-ann remains enthusiastic about the work that lies ahead. As artistic director, carrie-ann will provide artistic and musical leadership for all Opera Center artists and projects, including acting as the primary musical coach for its young artists, overseeing their development, collaborating on recitals and conducting performances.

Les Grandes Voix, the french recital series producer, has just announced that carrie-ann will be performing with jonas kaufmann on december 6th at the Théâtre des Champs-Elysées.
